Vigil: Lights for Liberty

Peaceful Action against ICE:
On Friday July 12th, 2019, Lights for Liberty will shine a light on the horrific abuses of the Trump administration, bringing thousands of Americans across the country to protest the inhumane conditions faced by refugees. At 9pm local time, at every detention camp, ICE Facility, and in cities, towns, and homes around America, a silent sea of candles will light up the nation.
This vigil is co-sponsored by Buddhist Peace Fellowship, Portland, Portland; Grassroots Movement; Direct Action Alliance; Extinction Rebellion Portland - XR PDX; and PDX Sanctuary Coalition. If your organization would like to co-sponsor, please message Buddhist Peace Fellowship, Portland. We welcome grassroots participation.

Our Master of Ceremonies is Pedro Anglada Cordero
Music begins at 8:00 pm. ~ Huehca Omeyocan.
Speakers begin at 8:30pm including Alberto Moreno, Jacob Bureros, and Alyssa Pariah.
Music during the lighting of the candles by Theresa Mitchell.

We are hoping to encircle the ICE Building with lit candles and to have an altar where people can pray or meditate for all the children who have died in custody, for all children who are suffering separation from their families and other forms of trauma, for all who have died in the migration, and for all who have been tormented and tortured by our government.
